Who Does CPRS Collect For?
CPRS is a debt collector reporting a collection account on your credit report.
CPRS either purchased the debt from the original creditor or has been hired by the original creditor to service the debt.
CPRS may send you letters in the mail regarding the debt or call you demanding payment.
But, much more than that, CPRS may now be reporting a collection account on your credit reports which lowers your credit scores and decreases your probability of getting approved for a mortgage, auto loan, credit card, apartment, etc…
Getting this account removed may be possible.

Can I Pay CPRS To Delete The Collection From My Credit Report?
CPRS may agree to delete the collection account in exchange for payment but, this is not very common.
CPRS typically updates the balance of the collection account to $0 and changes the status to “Paid Collection” once the account is paid.
Then continues to report the collection for 7 years from the date of the first key delinquency.
Note: Depending on how the account is reporting in your credit reports, paying a CPRS collection account may actually lower your credit scores.
Note: If you come to a “Pay-For-Delete” agreement with CPRS, make sure you get the terms of your agreement in writing before you make your payment. You don’t want them backing out of the deal and refusing to remove the collection after you have made your payment.
You may be able to get the CPRS account removed from your credit reports by leveraging consumer protection laws. Call (800) 750-1416 to find out how.

The statute of limitations will dictate whether you actually have to pay this debt.
If there are any inaccuracies or non-compliance issues with the collection account, the CPRS collection may be removed from your credit reports without any payment.

The most hassle-free way to do this is to call (800) 750-1416 or sign up online.
Why Does CPRS Keep Calling Me?
CPRS is calling you because they are a legitimate debt collector attempting to collect a debt.
You can ignore their calls, in which case they will continue to call/harass you and fill your voicemail with messages.
Or you can deal with the issue heads on; submit a limited cease and desist order to stop all calls, and use consumer protection laws to stop CPRS dead in their tracks.

Your state’s statute of limitations and the age of the debt will determine whether CPRS can sue you for the debt but, CPRS typically doesn’t sue consumers for collection accounts.
Not to say that it can’t happen but, it’s not typical.
If CPRS sues you for the debt there are a number of things that you can do, there are also a number of federal and state laws that have exemptions for wage garnishments.

Does CPRS Accept Goodwill Letters To Remove Collections From Credit Reports?
Goodwill letters don’t work with CPRS.
The best way to remove a CPRS collection from your credit report is to leverage consumer protection laws from the FCRA, FCBA, FDCPA, etc… or through a Pay-For-Delete.
What Are My Rights When Dealing With CPRS?
The FCRA allows you the right to dispute any debt that CPRS is reporting in your credit reports.
The FDCPA gives you the right to see a copy of the original contract/agreement that you signed with the original creditor for this debt, along with a breakdown showing how you accumulated the balance that you are past due.
If CPRS fails to produce these documents 30 days after receiving a written request, the FDCPA demands that CPRS remove the collection account from your credit report.
These are just a few examples of your consumer rights. Get to know the FCRA, FCBA, FDCPA, and FACTA.
